Can we live forever? Should we?
Can we live forever? As we explore the new bio-technologies, it is apparent science will allow us to potentially live forever. Or at the minimum extend our lifetime (the same amount of time as people in the Old Testament Bible). The answer appears to be yes.
Should we live forever? Complex! If we ever needed to leave the earth and find an alternative like planet it is certainly required. Even traveling at the speed of light travel to habitable planets it could exceed our current lifespan. If we live forever it begs the question...
Do we love the same. Maybe we love so intently because we know we only have so much time with loved ones. What if time was not an issue? Would we still love as deep. Would we bond with one person for a lifetime. How many relationships would we have that were significant in nature? How many children? What other changes in our "humaness" would change if we could live forever? Would we need values? Would we need morality? Would we be as motivated to achieve the same way as knowing you only have a certain amount of time to achieve your goals and dreams?
Curious to ponder....
